For those we can save, we are blessed with many miracles… and the joy of pets. ![]() Boxers and mixes such as Pit Boxer Labs from this shelter are mostly rehabilitated in foster homes where they are medically treated to ensure they are physically and emotionally ready for adoption. And although we can not save them all, there is not a day that goes by where we don’t try. Boxer Luv Rescue Boxer Luv Rescue has saved more than 10,000 Boxers and Boxer mixes since being founded in 1998. Our Ethical No-Kill Philosophy ensures we never euthanize a pet for space or length of time. As a modern open admissions shelter, the Arizona Humane Society sees cases daily that are beyond the scope of imagination - abuse, neglect, abandonment. And our comprehensive medical, behavioral rehabilitation, surrender intervention and spay/neuter initiatives have helped us save an additional 80,000 lives over the last five years and become a safety net for the Valley’s most vulnerable pets. Our lifesaving programs, including our Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital™, Mutternity Suites, Kitten Nursery, Bottle Baby Kitten ICU and Parvo Puppy ICU save the lives of pets routinely euthanized in shelters. Throughout the years, a commitment to thinking differently about animal welfare has led to countless first-of-their-kind programs, services, education and communication techniques that have been emulated by organizations all over the world. What once began as a small shelter established by a compassionate group of volunteers has since grown to become the state’s largest animal welfare and protection agency, as well as the state’s designated responder for animals in distress during natural disasters. Our mission is to save the most vulnerable animals and enrich the lives of pets and people. Ruby…the little dog who inspired a revolution.Since 1957, the Arizona Humane Society (AHS) has fostered the belief that every pet deserves a good life. ![]() I have decided to focus primarily on these wonderful animals…so in honor of little Ruby, Ruby Ranch Pet Rescue and Sanctuary was born. I have had the pleasure over the years of fostering hundreds of animals including many seniors and those with special needs. Although with me for just a short period, it was worth the expense, heartache…as I was able to provide a loving home for my little friend in her golden moments, instead of ending her life in a shelter on a cold cement floor. All good things must come to an end, and 10 months after coming into our lives, little Ruby’s heart gave out a few days before her 19th birthday. This little angel became known as Ruby and was a regular fixture at adoption events, often being carried around in her little wicker basket. Despite her poor prognosis, I decided to find a vet who would take a chance and remove those painfully abscessed teeth amazingly enough she survived the surgery, and was the proud owner of 3 whole teeth. Wow! She came complete with rotten teeth, a grade 5 heart murmur, and failing kidneys. Through some intense detective work, I discovered this little girl’s owner had passed away, and my senior friend had celebrated EIGHTEEN birthdays. When her stray period was up and no one came for her, I adopted her. ![]() Her kennel plaque stated “Stray”, although I couldn’t imagine how this little girl could possibly have gotten lost, as I was pretty sure she was around for the Last Supper. We have saved the lives of more than 10,000 rescue dogs since 1998. Founded in 1998, over 11,000+ homeless, abused, abandoned, and surrendered Boxer dogs have been rescued from shelters, humane societies, and owner surrenders. Founded in 1998 by Trish Spencer, Boxer Luv Rescue (BLR) is a 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to Boxers and Boxer mixes in need throughout Arizona. However upon closer inspection, I noticed a tiny, white, shivering little dog huddled in the corner. Boxer Luv Rescue is celebrating its 25th year of giving new life to homeless Boxers in need. While delivering blankets to the East Maricopa County shelter, I walked past what appeared to be an empty kennel.
